Weiliang Xia, Ph.D., is currently a Professor at the School of Biomedical Engineering & Med-X Research Institute, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is also Associate Dean of Zhiyuan College, an Honors College at SJTU. Dr. Xia obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Hong Kong with predoctoral training at the Rockefeller University in New York City from 2003-2006, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco from 2007 to 2008. He joined SJTU by the end of 2008. The research interest of his group includes mechanisms of cancer progression, treatment resistance and theranostic target identification, exosome biology and application, roles of FGF/FGFR signaling, and sirtuins in cancer progression and tissue repair. Dr. Xia has published more than 100 research papers since 2005, which have been cited over 6000 times with an H-index of 38. He has been awarded the Rising Star Prize by the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, SMC, and the Tang Lixin Young Faculty Award of SJTU. He is funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Ministry of Science and Technology. He is also a member of the Youth Working Committee for the Chinese Cell Biology Society, and a member of the American Association for Cancer Research.
