Wei Tian PhD

Wei is an experienced pharmaceutical development professional and has achieved market authorisation of several generic and NCE products in the US and EU. The generic approvals include both bioequivalence and biowaiver routes. Wei is particularly experienced in CMC development of 505(b)2 applications involving dosage form changes. He has worked on a wide range of dosage forms for both human and veterinary medicines. These include oral tablets and liquid fill hard capsules with modified and target release profiles, fast dissolve/sublingual dosage forms, topical solutions, suspensions and creams, injectable solutions and long acting injectables.

Wei has worked in some of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers and emerging biotech companies in the area of novel formulations and drug delivery. He has patents and patent applications in colon delivery, taste masking, fast dissolve technologies, solid dose injection as well as the enhancement of vaccine efficacy. He has led formulation development of room temperature stable vaccines/peptides, lipids based formulation, abuse deterrent formulation, long acting implants development and formulation reverse engineering for biowaivers. A strong problem solver, Wei has led numerous multidisciplinary investigation projects resolving some seemingly intractable manufacturing issues that led to successful product release.

Wei is highly analytical and has working knowledge of patents and patenting process. He was instrumental in securing the patent protection of some key platform technologies in several of the companies he was employed. Wei was also experienced in product clearance and infringement analysis. Wei has strong business acumen. He secured many million pounds’ non-dilutive funding to progress projects that showcase the Unique Selling Points of a novel delivery system, which was key to secure further private funding for the startup. He has also secured many returned business in his roles at the CDMOs he worked.
