Dr. Wayne Ghesquiere is a Clinical Infectious Diseases, Tropical Diseases and Internal Medicine consultant in Victoria BC as well as the former section chief for infectious diseases with the Vancouver Island Health Authority, VIHA. He is an attending physician at the Royal Jubilee and the Victoria General Hospitals in Victoria. Wayne is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine with UBC. He is also the chair of the annual Infectious Diseases Update in Victoria now in its 20th year. Wayne is the medical director of the Nova Travel Medicine Clinic.

He serves as the Co-Site Director of GeoSentinel surveillance (BC) which is a joint project of the International Society of Travel Medicine & Centre of Diseases Control, Atlanta USA. One of over 60 world-wide sites monitoring infections in returning international travelers. Current areas of interest include clinical research in the area of Hepatitis C antiviral therapy, new vaccines, teaching, and presenting. Recent publications in peer-reviewed journals include the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, Journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases, CMAJ, Gut, Hepatology, and Open Medicine.
