Dr. Rahman’s clinical and quality improvement initiatives focus on all aspects of pediatric emergency medicine including clinical care, mentoring faculty and other learners, systems integration, developing the electronic documentation system, development of clinical pathways, research and emergency and disaster preparedness. He joined the Pediatric Emergency Center at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in 1997 as assistant director and was named medical director of the emergency center and chair of the division of pediatric emergency medicine in 2003. Dr. Rahman is a member of the clinical faculty at Johns Hopkins All Children’s and is very involved in teaching pediatric residents. He also co-chairs a pediatric emergency medicine course that provides continuing medical education to the community pediatricians, emergency medicine physicians, advanced practice providers and nurses.
After graduating from Ross University School of Medicine, Dr. Rahman completed his pediatric residency training at Buffalo Children’s Hospital, was in private practice for a year and then completed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. He was medical director at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Va., before joining Johns Hopkins All Children’s.
