Dr. Wang Shan, M.D. & Ph.D., Professor of Surgery, Chief of Lab of Surgical Oncology, Director of the Research Center for Medical Big Data, Peking University People’s Hospital, has been engaged in the screening, diagnosis and treatment, follow-up and clinical research of diseases in General Surgery. He is good at diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of gastrointestinal tumors. Meanwhile, he is the first to put forward the concept of standardized surgical treatment such as CME and ELAPE, as well as the MDT model.
In clinical research field, he focuses on the molecular mechanism of the occurrence and development of gastrointestinal tumors, such as in-depth research in epigenetics and proteomics. Additionally, he presided over the establishment of a national health management information system and a national multi-center clinical specimen resource library for malignant tumors.
In the past 10 years, Dr. Wang has undertaken and participated in 34 major national, provincial and ministerial research projects, a total of more than 20 million RMB funding, and has authored more than 300 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He has been on the editorial boards of several academic journals, and is Honorary Fellow of the Hong Kong College of Surgeons (2013) and Honorary Fellow of the European Society of Surgery (2015). He also serves as the vice president of the Chinese Society of Surgery and the vice president of Chinese College of Surgeons.
