W. L. Alan Fung MD, MPhil, ScD, FRCPC, FAPA

Dr. Alan Fung is an Attending Physician and the Medical Director of Research at North York General Hospital Department of Psychiatry. He is also an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine. He has a strong interest in the interface between spirituality/religion and mental health, as well as in promoting interprofessional collaborations and education among mental health and spiritual care professionals. He serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) Caucus on Spirituality, Religion and Psychiatry.

He also serves on the Steering Committee of the Mental Health and Faith Community Partnership in the United States. In 2015, he was an invited speaker at the World Psychiatric Association First Global Meeting on Spirituality and Mental Health. In Canada, he is a founding member of the Toronto-based Working Group for the Promotion of Mental Health in Faith Communities.
