W. Jean Weyman PhD, RN

Dr. Jean Weyman, PhD, RN, is currently the Assistant Dean of the Continuing Education Program. She has a background in acute adult medical surgical nursing with a clinical focus in cardiology and acute neuro. Prior to joining the undergraduate faculty at Boston College, she had an extensive background in nursing administration at a major medical center and was involved with developing leadership and management programs, clinical advancement programs, preceptor orientation programs and consulted in quality assurance and program evaluation. Dr. Weyman taught in the undergraduate program at Boston College for several years before assuming the leadership of the Continuing Education Program. Under her leadership, the CE program has grown and developed into one of the leading programs in New England, with a unique focus on a curriculum approach to continuing education. As such, the CE program has developed certificate programs in RN Refresher, Medical Spanish, Clinical Research and IV Therapy and Forensics. She has organized national and regional conferences and serves on several planning committees and advisory boards.

Dr. Weyman has an interest in leadership development and issues facing working women, focusing on women and career development. Her research has focused on determinants of fatigue in working women and she has served as a co-investigator on three NIJ funded studies with Dr. Ann Burgess, organizing working groups for Sexual Abuse in the Elderly and Internet Predators of Children. The CE program is currently coordinating the working group meeting for Dr. Burgess’ NIJ funded study on the Multi-Prong Approaches to Strengthening Internet Child Safety.
