Vladimir Hachinski is a professor of neurology at Western University, Canada, earned an MD from the University of Toronto and trained in neurology and research in Montreal, Toronto, London, U.K. and Copenhagen.
Dr. Hachinski pioneered the world’s first successful acute stroke unit and discovered vital and fatal brain/heart relationships with Dr. John W. Norris. He has also worked with David Cechetto and Shawn Whitehead on the discovery of treatable links between Alzheimer disease and stroke. He has authored, co-authored or co-edited 17 books and has had over 600 publications cited over 29,000 times. He was Editor-in-Chief of STROKE and President of the World Federation of Neurology.
