Vip Viprakasit MD, DPhil, PhD

Dr. Vip Viprakasit graduated with 1st class honors from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand in 1994. He received his residency training in pediatrics at Chiang Mai University, Chiang Mai Thailand, and in pediatric hematology at Mahidol University during the period 1994-to 1999.

He continued his training in molecular medicine at the University of Oxford, UK, where he was awarded a doctorate degree (D. Phil) in 2002 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in molecular hematology at the Medical Research Council (MRC) Molecular Haematology Unit, the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, Oxford, UK, in 2004. Dr. V. Viprakasit returned to Mahidol University, in 2004 to join the Division of Paediatric Haematology-Oncology at Siriraj Hospital. He is currently Professor in Pediatrics since 2014 and has also been Programme Director for thalassemia research at Siriraj-Thalassaemia Center since 2008.
