Dr. Vincent Wai-Sun Wong is a leading clinician-scientist in gastroenterology and hepatology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He currently serves as Mok Hing Yiu Professor of Medicine, Professor in the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, and Head of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. In addition, he holds leadership roles within the Faculty of Medicine, including Assistant Dean (Development).
Professor Wong obtained his medical degree (MBChB) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) from CUHK and is a fellow of multiple prestigious professional bodies, including the Royal Colleges of Physicians of Edinburgh and London, as well as the Hong Kong College of Physicians and the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine.
His clinical and research expertise focuses on liver diseases, particularly non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), viral hepatitis, and liver fibrosis. His work emphasizes the development and application of non-invasive diagnostic tools and treatments for chronic liver diseases.
An internationally recognized researcher, Professor Wong has authored more than 500–600 peer-reviewed publications and has made significant contributions to global clinical guidelines on liver diseases, including those in the Asia-Pacific region. He has also served in major editorial roles for leading journals such as Journal of Hepatology and Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and previously held leadership positions in professional societies, including the Hong Kong Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
