Vimal Thomas George MD, MSc

Vimal Thomas George, MD, MSc, works as a family physician in Austin, TX. Dr. George holds a Master's in Healthcare Quality and Safety Management. He has experience as chief of family medicine, assistant chief medical officer, and chief of quality at the Austin Diagnostic Clinic. Dr. George is also the award-winning author of "Health in Flames," an active blogger, and a YouTuber. and recently spoke at TEDxNorthwesternU. Dr. George is a faculty member at Dell Medical School in Austin, Texas, serving as a Clinical Affiliate Faculty member in Population Health.

Dr. George's passion is improving the quality of care. In his clinic, he has improved quality across multiple metrics, including breast cancer screening, colon screening, and several immunizations, to better than the 90th percentile. As Chair of the Medical CQI committee, he helped align providers and staff to performance goals through financial and non-financial incentives by standardizing workflows and developing standing orders to empower medical assistants to work to the top of their license to enhance quality of care across the clinic and by standardizing disease management protocols among providers.
