Vikas Dudeja MBBS, FACS

Dr. Vikas Dudeja, MBBS, FACS, is the E. A. Crowell Jr. Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery at the University of Iowa Health Care. He received his medical degree from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences in India and completed his General Surgery residency at the University of Minnesota. In 2015, he completed fellowships in Complex General Surgical Oncology and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Dr. Dudeja’s clinical expertise focuses on the treatment of pancreatic diseases and hepato-biliary cancers. In addition to his clinical work, he leads a translational research laboratory that studies the tumor microenvironment in pancreatic cancer, the role of the gut microbiome in anti-cancer immune responses, and novel therapeutic strategies for pancreatitis. His research has been consistently funded by the NIH, Department of Defense, Veterans Affairs, and various professional society grants. He currently serves as the principal investigator on three multi-center national clinical trials.

Dr. Dudeja is a respected leader in academic surgery, holding national leadership roles including President-Elect for the Association of Academic Surgery. He is a member of several prestigious professional societies such as the American Surgical Association, Southern Surgical Association, Society of Clinical Surgery, The Halsted Society, and the American Society for Clinical Investigation. He also serves on the editorial boards of several prominent national journals.
