Dr. Vijay Kumar is the Director of Interventional Cardiology at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi. He heads the TAVR Programme and Heart Valve Clinic at the institute. He also is a Faculty and Head – DNB, a Cardiology teaching and training programme at FEHI. He is passionately involved from scratch of the programme and transformed it into a high Volume Centre for TAVR and Valve clinic of excellence.

He has a vast experience of 18 years in the field of interventional cardiology and does angioplasties and valve interventions of all kinds. He developed the primary angioplasty programme and the chest pain pathway at the institute. The new area of his responsibility in the institute is Heart Valve therapy and has a great role in spreading awareness of TAVR therapy amongst the patients and physicians. He is a proctor for the new generation of Cardiologists seeking to learn TAVR step by step and starting the programme at their centre.

His sympathetic caring and passionate dedication to patient care make him popular amongst the patients. He graduated from Odisha and did his super specialization in Cardiology from Delhi. He is presently head of the FEHIs National Board Examination Cardiology program and a Member of the National Board Intervention cardiology. He has numerous publications and editorials in national and international journals of cardiology in the area of Valve therapy and Coronary Intervention.
