Dr. Víctor Moreno-Torres, the assistant to the Internal Medicine Service of the Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda University Hospital, has been chosen by the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine (SEMI), through the Spanish Foundation of Internal Medicine (FEMI), as the best young specialist in Internal Medicine in Spain. The Professor Dr. Javier Merino Young Internist Award distinguishes each year internists with a clinical and/or researcher profile, under 35 years of age, with a strong involvement in the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine (SEMI) for at least the last three years and with a clinical, teaching and/or research trajectory of excellence.
With a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Autonomous University of Madrid, Dr. Moreno-Torres specialized in Internal Medicine as a resident intern at the Puerta de Hierro Hospital between 2014 and 2019, subsequently obtaining a Río-Hortega research contract at the hospital and currently works as an assistant in the Systemic Autoimmune Diseases Unit of the Internal Medicine Department of the hospital.
In addition, Dr. Moreno-Torres has completed the master's degree from the Spanish Group of Systemic Autoimmune Diseases (GEAS), has completed stays at the Systemic Autoimmune Diseases Unit of the Hospital de Cruces, in Barakaldo, and has been a Doctor of Medicine since May of this year, with cum laude mention.
At less than 35 years of age, Dr. Moreno-Torres has already published more than 30 scientific articles in international journals, being the main author in more than half of them, and participates in the peer review process of some impact journals on autoimmune, rheumatological, infectious and metabolic diseases such as the Frontiers of Immunology journal, which has an impact factor of 7,561.
Currently, this professional participates in seven funded projects of different kinds, in addition to collaborating on research projects and registries with the GEAS group and with the reference units for autoimmune diseases at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and the Hospital de Cruces de Barakaldo.
