Victor J. Pizzitola MD

Dr. Victor J. Pizzitola is a board-certified diagnostic radiologist and breast imaging specialist at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. He specializes in mammography, breast imaging, and image-guided breast interventions, with a strong commitment to the early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer. In addition to his clinical practice, he is widely recognized for his excellence in medical education and physician training.

Dr. Pizzitola earned his Bachelor of Science, Master of Public Health, and Doctor of Medicine degrees from Northwestern University. He completed a transitional internship at St. Vincent Catholic Medical Center, radiology residency training at the University of Chicago Hospitals and NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, and a combined Breast Imaging and Body Imaging Fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Radiology.

An Assistant Professor of Radiology at Mayo Clinic, Dr. Pizzitola serves as Program Director of the Breast Imaging Fellowship and Medical Student Clerkship Director. He has played a pivotal role in radiology education, curriculum development, and resident assessment, contributing extensively to national educational initiatives, including the American College of Radiology RadExam program. His outstanding dedication to teaching has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Mayo Clinic Distinguished Educator Award, multiple Department of Radiology Teacher of the Year Awards, and the Medical and Laboratory Educator of the Year Award.

Dr. Pizzitola is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Society of Breast Imaging, the Association of Academic Radiologists, and the Association of Program Directors in Radiology. Through his leadership in breast imaging, medical education, and academic radiology, he continues to advance the training of future radiologists while delivering high-quality, patient-centered breast care.
