Victor H. Gerbaudo, Ph.D., MSHCA, senior director of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and of Research in the Department of Radiology, received a Doctor of Medicine Honoris Causa degree from Universidad Maimonides in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in recognition of his outstanding advancements in clinical nuclear medicine and molecular imaging in cancer management.

Gerbaudo, who has achieved worldwide recognition for his work in nuclear medicine imaging of thoracic malignancies, pioneered the use of positron emission tomography (PET) to diagnose, stage, and monitor response to therapy in patients with mesothelioma and esophageal cancer. His contributions introduced the use of clinical molecular imaging to guide tumor biopsy and ablation and provided new knowledge on the use of novel imaging biomarkers for personalized cancer management.
