Veronika Olsovcova graduated in Dosimetry and applications of ionizing radiation at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague in 2001. She joined the Czech Metrology Institute, where she was in charge of the metrology of radionuclides in nuclear medicine centers within the country. She received her Ph.D. in 2008 from the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering at the Czech Technical University with a thesis on this topic. In 2010, she joined the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences to work on ensuring safe operations for a newly envisioned laser research center, using high-power lasers to produce ionizing radiation beams of high energies.

Veronika Olsovcova has been working at ELI Beamlines ever since. First, on radiation shielding design, later overseeing radioprotection aspects during the realization phase, and nowadays on setting up adequate processes and ensuring radiation detection. In 2017, she became the Head of the Safety team of ELI Beamlines. The team of 12 people takes care of Environment, health and safety, security, and radioprotection, including the Monte Carlo simulations group, which is an active member of a FLUKA collaboration. FLUKA is used not only for radioprotection considerations but also for detector development and for supporting the experimental efforts of other ELI teams. Veronika has been involved in EURADOS since 2003 when she was active in WG6 “Computational dosimetry”. Later, when she started to work on dosimetry and radioprotection for the specific fields generated by lasers (high energy mixed fields of extremely short pulses), she joined WG11 “High energy radiation fields” in 2011. She became Secretary of the WG11 in 2018.
