Dr. Arteaga was raised in Tucson, Arizona, she completed her Undergraduate BS degree in General Biology at the University of Arizona and then attended Dartmouth Medical School where she earned her MD in 2001. As a surgical intern her interest in Diagnostic Radiolog grew and she pursued radiology training at Cedars Sinai Medial Center in Los Angeles and then completed a dedicated Fellowship in Thoracic Imaging at UCLA Medical Center. Following her fellowship, Dr. Arteaga moved back to Tucson and developed the Thoracic Section within the Department of Radiology which has grown now to a Cardiothoracic Imaging section.

Dr. Arteaga is an expert in Thoracic imaging, with specific interests in interstitial lung disease, thoracic malignancies and lung cancer screening. Dr.Arteaga is dedicated to teaching chest imaging to medical students, residents and fellows and she has Joint Professorship with the Department of Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. She is currently co-director of the University of Arizona College of Medicine Medical Student Imaging Rotation and she has received the Department of Imaging Grand Saguaro Award for medical student education for 3 years. Dr. Arteaga has also participated in regional and national conferences and is currently involved in research endeavors related to endemic southwest fungal infections.
