Venkatakrishnan H. Iyer MBBS, MD, DNB, DM

Dr. Venkat H Iyer functions as the sole specialist in Medical Gastroenterology in the district of Bhavnagar, Gujarat. He completed his MBBS and MD in Internal Medicine in 2005 from BJ Medical College, Ahmedabad. He added the title of Diplomate of the National Board (DNB) to his name in 2006. He then worked for a year as Senior Resident (Non-DM) in the Gastroenterology Department of the prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. He completed his DM (Gastroenterology) super specialty training from August 2008 to July 2011 from the world-renowned Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu.

Dr. Venkat Iyer then returned to Gujarat, the state where he was born, and established his gastroenterology practice in Bhavnagar, a port town in the Saurashtra region of the state. Dr. Iyer was instrumental in establishing the Department of Gastroenterology at Sterling Hospital in Bhavnagar. He later started his own clinic - Sahaj Gastro Care - as a one-stop facility for all gastroenterology-related problems. It was later renamed as Sahaj Gastro Care and Sarjan Fertility Centre, with the addition of new facilities and services for fertility-related problems. He is also attached to HCG Hospital in Bhavnagar. Dr. Venkat Iyer has received several awards in his career. He bagged the Young Clinician Award for Best Paper at the INASL (Indian National Association for Study of the Liver) Conference at Chandigarh. He also received the 3rd prize in the National Endoscopy Conference (ENDOCON) quiz in 2013 held at Kolkata. He served as co-chairman of the Scientific Committee for ISGCON 2013 at Ahmedabad. Dr. Iyer has to his credit one international and several national publications.

Recipient of the prestigious "Peter Cotton Advanced Endoscopy International Fellowship" by the Medical University of South Carolina in the USA, Dr. Venkat Iyer has been regularly invited at many international, national and state-level conferences. He is a faculty trainer for GI endoscopy at ceMAST (Center of Excellence for Minimal Access Surgery Training.), Mumbai. He is presently the Zonal leader of Saurashtra Zone of Indian Society Of Gastroenterology, Gujarat Chapter.
