Dr. Vanessa Estall is an experienced radiation oncologist consulting at Icon Cancer Centre Geelong, Richmond, and Freemasons. Dr. Estall completed her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree at the University of Auckland in 1996, and completed specialist training in Sydney prior to achieving a fellowship at the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) in 2007. She completed a post-graduate fellowship at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, England in 2009 and was an awarded an MD for her research on novel radiation therapy techniques in the management of CNS tumors.
Dr. Estall established her radiation oncology career at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, gaining extensive experience in her six-year role as a clinical lead radiation oncologist in the Skin/Melanoma Unit, and as an active member of the Cranial Radiosurgery team. She continues to actively participate in clinical research and is currently recruiting to a number of local and international clinical trials. Throughout her career, she has had an active interest in special education, quality improvement, and governance, and is the current Chief Accreditation Officer for the RANZCR specialist training program.
Dr. Estall is a leading radiation oncologist specializing in the use of highly conformal radiation therapy techniques including cranial radiosurgery, Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), and Tomotherapy. Her clinical experience covers a broad range of solid tumor malignancies, with a special clinical interest in breast cancer, central nervous system (CNS) tumors, and skin malignancy including Merkel cell carcinoma, melanoma, and complex squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).
