Van N. Selby, MD is an Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Division of Cardiology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He earned his B.A. in Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Selby earned his M.D. degree from the UCSF School of Medicine, where he also completed his medical internship, residency, and fellowship in Cardiology. As a Cardiology fellow, he was the recipient of the Heart Failure Society of America's Research Fellowship award. After completing his training in general cardiology, Dr. Selby remained at UCSF for a fellowship in advanced heart failure and heart transplant cardiology. He joined the UCSF Cardiology faculty in 2014.

Dr. Selby’s clinical interests are in the evaluation and management of patients with advanced heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. This includes patients requiring heart transplantation and left ventricular assist devices (LVAD). He has a particular interest in the treatment of patients with heart failure due to cardiac amyloidosis and works closely with hematology and oncology experts to provide them with integrated, individualized care.
