Vamsi R. Narra, MD, is a professor of radiology and senior vice chair for imaging informatics and new business development for Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Board-certified in diagnostic radiology and clinical informatics, Narra serves as an associate chief medical officer at BJC Healthcare and the School of Medicine, overseeing radiology at all 13 hospitals and satellite facilities.

Narra helped to establish a comprehensive multi-subspecialty radiology service at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, in addition to solidifying MRI as the preferred imaging method for evaluating the liver and revamping the multidisciplinary case conferences for review of liver and pancreas cases — a contribution that helped advance Washington University’s liver transplant program. He also successfully led the creation of a system in 2013 for storing and accessing radiology images that are submitted to MIR for second opinions. Narra led the development of 1Rad, a service line-based support model for IT and imaging informatics — a first of its kind in the healthcare system.

A fellow of the Royal College of Radiology and the American College of Radiology, Narra received his medical degree from Osmania University in Hyderabad, India, prior to a diagnostic radiology residency at Michigan State University. An alumnus of MIR’s body MRI fellowship, he also completed Washington University’s executive MBA program.
