Valentina Giaccaglia MD, PhD, FACS, FRCSEd

Dr. Valentina Giaccaglia is a consultant general surgeon with a particular interest in colorectal surgery, proctology, and pelvic floor diseases.

She has been focusing her clinical activity on the latest minimally invasive techniques for treating hemorrhoids, rectal prolapse, rectal bleeding, pelvic floor dyssynergia, chronic anal and pelvic pain, anal stenosis, anal fistula, rectovaginal fistula, fecal incontinence, anal stricture, and pilonidal sinus. These new approaches allow patients to experience less pain and a very quick return to daily activities. In addition, she performs anoscopy, rectoscope, endoanal ultrasound, and anorectal manometry.

She is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Surgery at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Health Sciences (MBRU), a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and Administrator of the UAE Chapter of ACS. She was also President and organizer of the Dubai International Colorectal Symposium 2017 with Prof. S. Wexner. Dr. Valentina is a faculty and trainer for different courses in the MENA region about VAAFT, EPSiT, STARR, and pelvic floor diagnostics. She is the author of many papers published in international journals including Annals of Surgery.

She graduated from ‘Sapienza’ University of Rome, Italy, where she also undertook her residency in General Surgery and a Ph.D. She also did a clinical clerkship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University, Boston. She was the winner of the Patient Satisfaction Award 2017-2018 at Mediclinic City Hospital.
