Uzma Samadani MD, PhD

r. Samadani’s principal clinical interest is cranial surgery. As Chief of Neurosurgery at the New York Harbor Heath Care System since 2010 she has helped bring pivotal technology to the operating room for neuronavigation and neuromonitoring during the removal of brain tumors. She also performs spine surgery with an emphasis on minimally invasive approaches that preserve spinal mobility. She has performed more artificial cervical disc procedures than any other surgeon in Manhattan.

Dr. Samadani’s primary research interest is in restorative neurosurgery, or recovery from brain injury due to trauma, hemorrhage, or other causes. She has published work exploring whether cortical neurogenesis occurs after hemorrhage.
