Prof. Dr. medical Uwe Janssens is the chief physician at the clinic for internal medicine and internal intensive care medicine at the St. Antonius Hospital in Eschweiler, which he has headed since 2005. Janssens, who was born in 1960, was previously the chief physician at the Caritas Hospital in Bad Mergentheim, after completing his further training as a specialist in internal medicine and cardiology at the University Hospital in Aachen, as well as the additional qualification of internal intensive care medicine, and as a senior consultant responsible for the internal and cardiological intensive care unit. Janssens got involved in DIVI early on. Since 2008 he has been a spokesman for the Ethics Section, in which he deals, among other things, with the question of which limit the use of modern intensive care medicine serves the well-being of patients.

In addition, he is the column editor of the German Medical Weekly Journal and the General Secretary of the German Society for Internal Intensive Care Medicine.
