Ulrich Vogel

Ulrich has trained as a medical doctor, with clinical practice in cardiology. He joined pharmacovigilance in 2002, acting as a medical manager in the German affiliate of a US-based pharmaceutical company.

In 2004, Ulrich joined Corporate Drug Safety at Boehringer Ingelheim. In the following years, he had various medical assignments in global risk management, with a focus on respiratory products. He is a member of CIOMS VIII, Practical Aspects of Signal Detection in Pharmacovigilance.

In 2011, he formed the Strategic Data Analysis group in Global Pharmacovigilance. This function has the global process ownership for signal management and oversees the analytical processing of pharmacovigilance data for medical purposes.

Ulrich is passionate about coding his own analyses, mostly in R tidyverse and d3js. His research interests include causal inference from complex datasets, structured discussion of benefits and risks, and digital healthcare.
