Uli Schmiddem MD

Uli Schmiddem has a doctorate in trauma surgery and orthopedics with additional qualifications in sports medicine, manual therapy, and emergency medicine. He is a DVSE (German Association for Shoulder & Elbow Surgery) certified shoulder and elbow surgeon.

Dr. Schmiddem completed a large part of his surgical training in Switzerland before moving to the Department of Trauma Surgery at the Hanover Medical School and completing his specialist training there. He completed a one-year fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at the University Hospital Geelong in Australia and the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire in Great Britain. Both stays abroad offered the opportunity to work closely with internationally renowned specialists in shoulder and elbow surgery and to build up sound clinical and scientific expertise. Furthermore, Dr. Schmiddem senior physician with a focus on shoulder and elbow surgery at the St. Josef Hospital in Essen-Kupferdreh is exclusively responsible for shoulder and elbow problems at the Duisburg Sports Clinic. Since 2023 he has been co-owner of the orthopedic group practice ZBO Neuss. In addition to clinical work, Dr. Schmiddem published various articles on shoulder surgery topics in international journals and presented them at conferences.
