Dr. Ugur T. Sener, MD, is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He serves as Chair of the Division of Neuro-Oncology within the Department of Neurology and Chair of the Neuro-Oncology Tumor Group in the Department of Oncology. Dr. Sener specializes in the treatment of primary and metastatic tumors of the central nervous system, as well as the neurological complications associated with cancer and cancer therapies.
Dr. Sener's research focuses on the development of innovative therapies for patients with brain and spinal cord tumors. He serves as an investigator on multiple clinical trials evaluating novel treatment approaches for gliomas, meningiomas, and other central nervous system malignancies. His scientific interests also include leptomeningeal disease, a challenging condition involving the spread of cancer cells into the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Through both laboratory and clinical research, he seeks to better understand tumor biology and improve neurological and survival outcomes for patients with neuro-oncologic diseases.
After earning his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, Dr. Sener completed residency training in Neurology at Mayo Clinic in Florida, followed by a fellowship in Neuro-Oncology at the renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He later joined the Mayo Clinic faculty, where he has held numerous leadership, educational, and research roles. He was selected for Mayo Clinic's competitive Clinical Trialist Training Program, reflecting his commitment to advancing clinical research and therapeutic innovation.
