Uchenna C. Ossai PT, DPT, WCS, CSC

Uchenna Ossai came to Dell Medical School from the Center for Restorative Pelvic Medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital, where she was a therapist and the manager of the Pelvic Health Program. She received her clinical doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Illinois and completed her residency in women’s health and movement impairment science at Washington University in St. Louis. In 2010, Ossai was awarded the National Albert Schweitzer Fellowship Award and was named the Best Clinical Performance Doctoral Student from the University of Illinois.

In 2016, Ossai completed the University of Michigan Sexual Health Certificate Program in Sexuality Counseling and Education. She created and developed the pelvic health physical therapy program at Houston Methodist Hospital, where was on faculty for the female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery fellowship, as well as the urology residency program.

Ossai’s clinical and research interests include chronic pelvic pain for individuals of all genders, sexual dysfunction, and pelvic floor dysfunction for marginalized populations, particularly women of color and the LGBTQIA community. She is the treasurer for the American Physical Therapy Association: Section on Women’s Health and is also the chair and creator of the Minority Health Task Force Initiative for the association. She has been invited to present posters and abstracts on her special interests at the national and international levels.
