Dr. Trudy Larson, the current board President, has been a professor at the University of Nevada, School of Medicine since 1984, specializing in infectious diseases and in July 2011 became Director of the School of Community Health Sciences at UNR where she oversees a growing undergraduate and MPH program. Her major fields of interest are HIV/AIDS and immunizations. She has been active in caring for HIV patients at the HOPES clinic in Reno, in training health professionals about HIV and immunization throughout the state, nationally and internationally, and in conducting funded research. She was inducted into the Nevada Women’s Fund Hall of Fame in 1996, received the Distinguished Physician award from the Nevada State Medical Association in 1999 and was honored as a Healthcare Hero for Lifetime Achievement in 2008 for her work in HIV/AIDS.
