Dr. Trudy Frances Charlene Mackay received his BSc and MSc in Biology from Dalhousie University (Halifax, Canada) and his PhD in Genetics from the University of Edinburgh (Edinburgh, Scotland). She was a lecturer in the Department of Genetics at the University of Edinburgh from 1980-1987. She joined the faculty of North Carolina State University in 1987, where she was a Distinguished University Professor and Goodnight Innovation Distinguished Chair of Biological Sciences until June 2018. She joined Clemson University on July 1, 2018, as the Director of the Clemson University Center for Human Genetics and the Self Family Endowed Chair in Human Genetics in the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry.
