Tracey J. Woodruff PhD, MPH

Dr. Tracey J. Woodruff, PhD, MPH, is a nationally recognized environmental health scientist and policy expert serving as Professor and Director of the Program on Reproductive Health and the Environment (PRHE) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She holds the Alison S. Carlson Endowed Professorship in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences within the UCSF School of Medicine and is affiliated with the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies.

Dr. Woodruff’s research focuses on the impact of environmental contaminants on reproductive and developmental health, with an emphasis on translating scientific evidence into public health policy and prevention strategies. She is internationally recognized for advancing systematic review methods in environmental health sciences and for leading multidisciplinary collaborations that inform regulatory decision-making and chemical safety standards.

Before joining UCSF, Dr. Woodruff spent over a decade at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), where she served as a Senior Scientist in the National Center for Environmental Economics within the Office of Policy. In this role, she conducted and led policy analyses evaluating the health and economic impacts of environmental exposures, providing scientific guidance to support federal environmental regulations. Through her leadership at UCSF, Dr. Woodruff has built a nationally prominent research and training program dedicated to preventing harmful environmental exposures, promoting reproductive health, and advancing evidence-based environmental policy.
