Professor Toyoko Asami (MD, DMSc) is a certified physiatrist, clinical professor and chairperson of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Saga University Hospital, Saga, Japan. She is also visiting a professor at the School of Medicine, Fujita Health University (Japan). She graduated from Fukuoka University Department of Medicine in 1984 and got a DMSc from Saga Medical School in 1988.
Now, she serves several roles in the field of rehabilitation medicine in Japan: Chairperson of The Japanese Society of Prosthetics and Orthotics, Director of The Japanese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine, Bone and Joint Japan, Japanese society for Neural Repair and Neurorehabilitation and The Japanese Society of Regenerative Medicine and Rehabilitation, Member of the Women and Health Committee and Awards and Nominating Committee in The International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM), President of The 29th Scientific Meeting of the Japanese Society of Prosthetics and Orthotics (Japan, 2013) and The 55th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine (Japan, 2018).
