Toni Broaddus JD, BA

Dr. Toni Broaddus is the CaliforniaCampaign Director for Compassion & Choices, the nation’s leadingorganization supporting and advocating for patient-centered end-of-lifecare. Toni leads the organization’s efforts to bring Death with Dignityto California, making medical aid in dying an open, accessible, and legitimatemedical practice available to mentally competent and terminally illCalifornians. Prior to joining C&C, Toni worked as a consultantspecializing in policy & advocacy support for non-profit social justiceorganizations. Her work has included developing and implementing astrategy for improving federal non-discrimination protections at the Departmentof Justice, managing a coalition and helping them develop a research &community education campaign in California, and managing the exploratorycampaign for a California Assembly candidate. Toni previously served asthe founding executive director for Equality Federation, the national allianceof state organizations working for equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual andtransgender (LGBT) people. While at the Federation, Toni co-chaired acoalition of national LGBT organizations and funders collaborating and poolingresources to achieve policy goals in key states; she also worked extensively tohelp state groups plan and launch advocacy strategies as well as statewideballot measure campaigns. Toni served as Equality California's firstprogram director where she led the field effort to pass one of the firstcomprehensive domestic partnership laws in the country.
