Tommaso Castroflorio DDS, PhD

Dr. Tommaso Castroflorio obtained his DDS Degree from the University of Turin, Italy, in 1998; In 2001 he was certified as a Specialist in Orthodontics summa cum laude from the same University. In 2007 he obtained his PhD in Human Morphology from the University of Milan, Italy. In 2009 he completed a postgraduate course in Orofacial Pain at the University of New Jersey, USA. In 2019 he completed a University of Cambridge course about High Impact Leadership. Since 2014 he has been an aggregate Professor of the Chair of Orthodontics and of the Specialization School of Orthodontics of the Dental School of the University of Turin, Turin, Italy and he is involved in international research projects with universities in Canada and the US focused on aligner and bracket-archwire interactions. He is the author or co-author of more than 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals, national dental journals, and chapters of books.

Castroflorio is co-editor of the book “Biomechanics and Principles of Aligner Orthodontics” together with Ravindra Nanda, Francesco Garino, and Kenji Ojima (Elsevier Publishing 2021). Since 2019 he has been leading the educational program of the Postgraduate School in Orthodontics of the University of Turin. In November 2022 he left the academic position. He is one of the founders of Clear Aligner Academy Italia, a private institution created to educate professionals in the field of aligner orthodontics. He serves as a reviewer for the most important dental journals in the field of Orthodontics and Oral Physiology.

Castroflorio is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Aligner Orthodontics edited by Quintessence. He has lectured extensively in Europe, Asia, and America. He is a founding member and 2022/2023 President of the European Aligner Society. He is an active member of the Angle Society, North Atlantic component Since 2010 he is a member of the European Advisory Board of Align Technology. His private practice is located in Turin, Italy.
