Tom Kliphuis

Tom Kliphuis (1964) has been chairman of the Board of Directors for the Coöperatie VGZ since 2014. Coöperatie VGZ is the second largest healthcare insurance provider in The Netherlands, providing coverage to its 4,2 million members .

Following completion of his doctorate in Business Management at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in 1988, Tom began his professional career at Nationale Nederlanden as a company trainee. Thereafter he worked in various management positions at the ING Bank. During 2000 to 2010 he was responsible for the insurance and pension activities at ING Insurance working respectively in Mexico, Chili and Central and Southern Europe. His most recent function prior to coming to VGZ, was as CEO-Benelux for Nationale Nederlanden during 2011 to 2013.
