Tom Clonan MA, PhD

Dr. Tom Clonan is the Irish Times Security Analyst. He is a retired army officer with experience in the Middle East and former Yugoslavia. He has provided the Irish Times with in-depth defence and security analysis since the Twin Tower attacks on New York in September 2001. Tom also provides real-time military analysis to Irish broadcasters such as RTE, Newstalk and Today FM along with international electronic media including the BBC and Sky News. Tom lectures in political communication in the School of Media, DIT. He is author of ‘Blood, Sweat and Tears’, an autobiographical novel of his experience of war and mass murder in South Lebanon.
