Todd Otteson MD, MPH, FACS, FAAP

Dr. Todd D. Otteson, MD, MPH, FACS, FAAP, is Chief of Pediatric Otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat surgery) and the James Arnold and Nancy and Tom Seitz Chair in Pediatric Otolaryngology at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital. He also sees patients at UH Twinsburg, University Suburban, and Chagrin Highlands health centers. He is an Associate Professor in the departments of Pediatrics and Otolaryngology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Otteson is board certified in otolaryngology. His special interests include ear, nose, and throat problems related to eosinophilic esophagitis, correction of cleft palate, and pediatric craniofacial surgery.

A Utah native, Dr. Otteson completed his undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah. He earned his doctorate in medicine from Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, D.C., and served a four-year residency in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery at Georgetown University Medical Center. In his first year of residency, he completed a research fellowship in medicine and endocrinology at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C. He continued his training as a fellow in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pa., and earned a Master’s of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. Dr. Otteson joined the UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital staff in 2013 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine/Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, where he was an Associate Professor and a staff otolaryngologist.

He has published more than two dozen papers and abstracts in specialized pediatric otolaryngology journals and is a frequent presenter at national meetings of the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology. He also has participated in international panel discussions of pediatric ear and throat infections. His research experience includes a National Institutes of Health study on middle ear pressure in healthy and ill children. Dr. Otteson is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a member of the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association.
