Todd Larson, RN, BSN, MSIT, CNOR is the new Director of Simulation at Advent Health University. Prior to his new role he was Director of Education & Training at the Advent Health Nicholson Center where he led and facilitated education and training efforts for internal, external, and industry clients while developing training programs that build competency for the healthcare team. Todd was instrumental in the Nicholson Center achieving status an American College of Surgeons Accredited Education Institute.

Subsequent to joining Advent Health, Todd was the Vice President & Chief Clinical Officer for Mimic Technologies, Inc. While at Mimic, he led their education and training efforts leveraging virtual reality simulation in robotic training and also spearheaded their Consultancy Service that focused on assisting institutions with developing high-quality robotic surgery programs.

Following his 23-year service in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Larson was the Program Manager and Nursing Supervisor for the Telerobotics & Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery Program at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Todd managed all telesurgery and robotic surgery technology related projects, including program budgeting, grant oversight, acquisitions, personnel management, training, research, and clinical practice.

While serving on active duty in the Navy, Mr. Larson served in a variety of leadership roles including serving as the Business Manager for Operative Care Services at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland and serving as the Department Head for Surgical and Ancillary Services onboard the Hospital Ship USNS Comfort TAH- 20 during the 9-11 Disaster and in support of Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Mr. Larson has received numerous military awards, including five Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medals; two Joint Service Achievement Medals; two Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medals; a Combat Action Ribbon; a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Service Medal; a Humanitarian Service Medal, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.

Mr. Larson is a Registered Nurse, has his Master of Science Degree in Information Technology, and is a Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR), and is a member of the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses and the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.
