Dr. Todd Dorman is a professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He also holds appointments in internal medicine, surgery, and the School of Nursing. Dr. Dorman is senior associate dean for education coordination and associate dean and director for continuing medical education for the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He also serves as vice chair for critical care services for the department of anesthesiology and critical care medicine.

After receiving his undergraduate degree in biology from Wofford College, Dr. Dorman earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Charlotte Memorial Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Dorman then completed a residency in anesthesiology and critical care medicine and performed a fellowship in critical care medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 1992. Previously he served as the director of the Division of Adult Critical Care Medicine, co-director of the Surgical Intensive Care Units, medical director of the Adult Postanesthesiology Care Units and medical director of Respiratory Care Services and the chair of the CME Advisory Board at Johns Hopkins.

Dr. Dorman’s clinical research interests include the stress response to surgery, aminoglycoside antibiotics, fungal infections, and renal failure. He is also interested in quality and safety in the ICU and medical informatics. Outside of Johns Hopkins, Dr. Dorman serves on the editorial boards of ICU Management and Critical Care Medicine. He has an extensive background in association leadership and serves on the council of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, is past-president of the American Society for Critical Care Anesthesiologists and the Society for Academic CME, and is a member of the American Society for Association Executives.
