Dr. Florin is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is Director of Research for the Division of Emergency Medicine at Lurie and Head of the Grainger Initiative for Pediatric Emergency Medicine Research. Dr. Florin is a nationally recognized expert in the field of respiratory infectious diseases in the acute care setting.

His work has been funded by a K23 mentored career development award from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of the NIH, a KL2 mentored career development award through the University of Cincinnati Center for Clinical and Translational Science and Training (CCTST) and a grant from the Gerber Foundation. He is a past recipient of the Academic Pediatric Association Young Investigator Award, in addition to research awards from the Sections of Emergency Medicine and Hospital Medicine of the American Academy of Pediatrics and mentorship awards from Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. He serves on the Council of the Society of Pediatric Research.
