Toby Page trained at the Royal Free Medical School in London, where he was awarded a first-class Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Clinical Immunology whilst completing his Medical Degree (MBBS). He studied for and was awarded a Ph.D. in molecular genetics of renal cancer from the University of Exeter and Plymouth as well as publishing a number of clinical and scientific papers. He moved to the North East in 2005 and is based at the Freeman Hospital on Monday to Thursday and Hexham Hospital on a Friday.
His specialist interests are in laser surgery and kidney cancer surgery. He performs laser prostate surgery most weeks and is trained in the use of both holmium and high-power green light (KTP) lasers. He is also training surgeons in the safe and effective use of these lasers. He has lectured nationally on prostate surgery and is one of only a few consultant surgeons in the country who can offer treatment for benign prostate surgery with both holmium and KTP lasers, as well as saline resection and vaporization.
