Dr. Tobias Reichlin was an associate professor for Cardiology and electrophysiology and head of the mythology department at Inselspital on April 1, 2018. Tobias Reichlin (39) grew up in Lucerne and studied medicine in Basel. After completing his dissertation at the Biozentrum in Basel, he completed his clinical training as a specialist in internal medicine and cardiology in Langenthal and Basel. In parallel, he has been researching the use of new blood tests to help diagnose heart attacks more quickly, which has led to the introduction of these tests worldwide. From 2011 to 2013 Tobias Reichlin completed research and further education stay supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation at Harvard University and the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
He specialized in the interventional treatment of cardiac arrhythmias using catheter ablation. From 2013 he worked as a senior physician at the University Hospital Basel, Tobias Reichlin's research focuses on the better interventional treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, especially atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardias. One focus is the application of new automated electrocardiography procedures, which can also be used for a better diagnosis of diseases such as myocardial infarction and stroke.
