Tingting received her BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Malta. She completed an MSc in Biomedical Engineering at University College, London, where she continued to work as a research assistant before joining the Oxford Centre for Doctoral Training in Healthcare Innovation in 2011.
Tingting's interests lie in machine learning for healthcare applications; in her DPhil with CHI Lab (co-supervised with Prof. Gari Clifford of Emory University, USA), she developed probabilistic techniques for the labelling of medical data. Her doctoral research focussed on developing algorithms for online, unsupervised learning, combining crowd-sourced medical data, and she has created a stand-alone labelling system called CrowdLabel. She was the project coordinator for an m-Health project between China Mobile and University of Oxford, and is a member of St. Hilda's College, Oxford, where she is a Junior Research Fellow.
