Prof. Dr. medical Tina Histing will be the new Medical Director and Director of the Clinic for Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery at the BG Clinic Tübingen on September 1st, 2020. At the same time, Prof. Histing takes over the chair for trauma surgery at the medical faculty of Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen.
With her at the top of the senior physicians, the BG Clinic wants to further expand the optimal care of severely injured and trauma patients regionally and nationally. Prof. Histing is the first female medical director of the BG Kliniken group of companies and Germany's first female professor for trauma surgery.
Due to an increasingly older population in Germany, Prof. Histing sees geriatric traumatology in particular as a central topic for trauma surgery in the coming years. Since 2016, an interdisciplinary team has specialized in the care of elderly patients in the clinic's own center for geriatric traumatology. Together with Prof. Histing, the BG Klinik Tübingen now wants to build on existing structures and establish itself nationally as a center for top-quality care for pelvic and acetabular fractures. In addition to her position as Medical Director and Director of the Clinic for Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery, the 42-year-old takes over as the Chair of Trauma Surgery at the Medical Faculty of the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen. The scientific focus of the Saarland native is on research into impaired fracture healing, especially in metabolic diseases and in old age. In addition, Prof. Histing works on clinical studies on pelvic surgery and geriatric traumatology.
