Timothy Solberg, PhD, FAAPM, FACMP, received his master of science degree in physics from the University of California, Davis, and his PhD in biomedical physics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). His areas of specialization include radiation therapy physics, stereotactic radiosurgery, image-guided radiotherapy, optimization and intensitymodulated radiotherapy, radiation transport methods, and molecular imaging.

Dr. Solberg is a licensed medical physicist and is certified in therapeutic radiological physics by the American Board of Radiology. He became a fellow of the American College of Medical Physics in 2005 and of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine in 2006. Dr. Solberg is director of the division of medical physics and engineering in the Department of Radiation Oncology at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he is also the Barbara Crittenden Professor of Cancer Research. Previously, he was vice chair and professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at UCLA. He was co-director of the UCLA Radiosurgery Program for over a decade. Dr. Solberg has been involved in SRS and SBRT since 1990.

Dr. Solberg is actively involved in numerous professional societies, including the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, American College of Medical Physics, American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, and American College of Radiology. Dr. Solberg is deputy editor-in-chief for the Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Associate Editor for the Journal of Radiosurgery and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy, and reviews manuscripts for many other journals. Dr. Solberg was named an American Cancer Society Research Scholar in 2003.
