Dr. Gauthier graduated from Northeastern University’s School of Pharmacy (Boston, MA). He then completed a Post-Graduate Year-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency and a Post-Graduate Year-2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital (Miami, FL). He holds certifications from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties for Pharmacotherapy and Infectious diseases. He has completed the Making A Difference in Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy Antimicrobial Stewardship Training Program.

He has published >30 peer-reviewed articles (many of which are indexed in PubMed), including contributions within top journals such as Clinical Infectious Diseases, Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education, and American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy. He has co-authored several book chapters. He has worked as a freelance writer for Pharmacy Times. He serves as a peer reviewer for several medical journals. Through social media, his scholarly work has reached millions of people across the world.

He is an active member of the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists, the American College of Clinical Pharmacy’s Infectious Diseases Practice and Research Network, and the Southeastern Research Group Endeavor. He was the 2019 recipient of the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists Gita Patel Best Practice Recognition Award.

His research interests include antimicrobial stewardship, pharmacy education, pharmacy practice, pharmacy leadership, social media, colistin, inhaled tobramycin, penicillin skin testing, and treatment of vancomycin-resistant Enterococci.
