Timothy Morgan MD

Dr. Timothy R. Morgan is the Chief of Hepatology at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System and Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Morgan is the Director of the VA National Liver Health Program which oversees projects to improve diagnosis and treatment of liver disease across the VA healthcare system.

He was an investigator on clinical trials in hepatitis C for 25 years and in alcoholic hepatitis and alcoholic cirrhosis for 30 years. He has been the co-chair of the AASLD-IDSA hepatitis C treatment guideline committee and chair of the VA hepatitis C treatment guidelines. He has been funded by the NIH to evaluate new treatments and to better understand the pathophysiology of alcohol-related hepatitis. Dr. Morgan is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American Gastroenterology Association, and the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease.
