Timothy E. Foster, M.D. has been named the inaugural Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He succeeds Mark Belsky, M.D., who had served admirably for 25 years as Chief of Orthopaedics and recently as Acting Chair of this newly created department.

Timothy E. Foster, M.D. has been named the inaugural Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He succeeds Mark Belsky, M.D., who had served admirably for 25 years as Chief of Orthopaedics and recently as Acting Chair of this newly created department.

Foster has been in practice for 21 years and is considered a national expert in all aspects of sports medicine. He is the author of multiple peer review articles and book chapters and is the associate editor of the American Journal of Sports Medicine, serving in this role for the past 15 years. In addition, Foster was instrumental in the development of the Ryan Center for Sports Medicine on the Boston University main campus, which has become a national model for the collaboration of physicians, therapists, trainers and students in the treatment of athletes.
