Tim Newton is Professor of Psychology as Applied to Dentistry and Honorary Consultant Health Psychologist at King’s College London Dental Institute. Tim has worked in the behavioural sciences in relation to dentistry for over 20 years, and his particular interests include the management of dental anxiety, interventions to enhance oral health related behaviour and the working life of the dental team. He has published over 250 peer reviewed articles in scientific journals.

In 2008 in conjunction with colleagues Dr Koula Asimakopoulou and Dr Suzanne Scott he founded the Dental Institute Health Psychology Service which provides support for individuals who are dentally anxious or experiencing ongoing oro-facial pain. Tim has a strong commitment to ensuring that research is of the highest scientific and ethical standards in protection of the rights of research participants and the wider public. In pursuance of this he is Chair of the King’s College London Research Ethics Committee.
